Interested in Serving Your Community? Join the Four Rivers Vector Control District Board of Trustees

Many residents know the Four Rivers Vector Control District through mosquito control operations, but fewer know that the District is governed by a local Board of Trustees made up of community members.

An office setup for the Four Rivers Vector Control District, promoting board involvement and community service opportunities.

Under Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) Chapter 452, the District is overseen by a volunteer Board of Trustees whose responsibility is to establish policy, provide oversight, and ensure that taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly and effectively. The Board serves as the link between the community and District operations, helping guide the future of mosquito and vector control services throughout the region.

Current Board Vacancy

The District currently has a vacancy on its Board of Trustees and is actively seeking a community member interested in serving.

  • Ensure public funds are managed responsibly
  • Represent the interests of your community
  • Learn about public health and environmental management
  • Be part of the District's continued improvement and modernization

What Is Expected?

Board members are volunteers who attend regular Board meetings and participate in District oversight activities.

Typical commitments include:

  • Monthly Board meetings from January through October
  • Several additional budget and financial meetings during the spring budget season
  • Reviewing District policies, budgets, and operational reports
  • Helping ensure compliance with Oregon laws and regulations governing special districts

Building a Better District

Over the eight months, the Board has been working diligently to improve both the financial and operational condition of the District. Many residents have noticed challenges that occurred over the past several years, and the current Board has been focused on strengthening accountability, increasing transparency, modernizing operations, and improving service to the public.

Significant progress has already been made, but there is still important work ahead.

The District is entering a new chapter with updated equipment, improved reporting systems, enhanced customer service, and a renewed commitment to protecting public health while being good stewards of taxpayer resources.
